Designer Darling Round 4- just playing along

The challenge this round was to create a mini kit (5-8 papers, 12-15 elements) using no "Commercial Use" products. Which means creating everything from scratch using our own creativity. It was intimidating at first. I knew there a bunch of things I could make on my own, but would they pass "quality control". Could I make something on that level? 

We were given freedom to make any themed kit we desired, as long as our color pallet included this blue

Since I am such a visual person I decided to start with a pallet; I hoped that would inspire me.

I ended up created this pallet

I guess I like odd pallets. Originally I hadn't added the red. But when my husband said the colors reminded him of a sunset, I added the red to make an "Arizona Sunset" pallet complete.

Designer Darling Round 3 Plus FREEBIE

I didn't make the cuts to Round 3. I took it really hard. I had only started my first attempts at designing (more than alphas or clustering other people's work) less than a month before the competition started. I hadn't expected to get to the end of it, but I had hoped to make it through at least one round of cuts. 

Regardless of how disappointed I was, I told myself I was doing this to force myself to learn. So in the spirit of learning I have decided to still participate but on their "play along" forum.

This week's challenge was to extract 3 items to make your own commercial use products.

Extraction has always been hard for me. I have avoided doing it if I could. I blend A LOT instead.

But again in the spirit of learning. I forced myself to try.

Bee-Mine Valentine Craft

Found something similar on Pinterest but there was no instructions on how to make them.

I studied them out and put together my own instructions.

To make

BEE-Valentines:

1. You need

• Yellow paper
• black paper
•    printed paper or more yellow
• glue
•    scissors
•    googlie eyes
• marker
• lollipop 

2. Cut wings out of printed paper

   Cut yellow paper 6 inches wide and 4.5 inch tall

    Cut black paper in random width strips no wider than 1 inch.

3. glue yellow base

4. glue on black stripes

5. glue on wings

6. write sentiment on wings

7. glue on googlie eyes (or draw them on)

    draw on mouth

8. inside tube tape sticks of

    lolipop, firmly secure.

9. Give away!

Designer Darlings Round Two

This time we were given a story and  two photos as our inspiration.

We were able to make our pallet anything we wanted.

I took inspiration from one of the photos (the pink and purple) and that the story took place in the fall. I decided to created a kit that would be a pink, purple, girly fall kit.

And this is what I came up with...
